Number Of New Dwellings Completed In Clare Falls By Over 26% In Last Year

The number of new dwellings constructed in Clare has fallen by over a quarter in the last twelve months.

The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office, which have just been published, show a marked annual decrease in the number of homes constructed in the county in the first quarter of this year, as Clare FM’s Daragh Dolan reports.

A total of 105 new dwellings were constructed in the Banner County between January & March of 2023, representing a 26% decrease on the 143 finished at this juncture of the year previous.

According to the CSO 36 new dwellings were finished in the Ennis electoral area in the first quarter of the year in addition to a further 25 in North Clare.

15 new homes completed construction in Killaloe and Shannon while a further 14 premises were also finished in Kilrush.

59% of newly completed dwellings during this period in the Banner were single units , 39% were delivered as part of scheme housing, with the remaining 2% of dwellings coming in the way of apartments.

Despite the relatively significant decrease in the number of new dwellings which completed construction throughout Clare in the first quarter of the year, the Midwest region which for recording purposes includes Clare, Tipperary & Limerick registered an overall increase of 9%.

In total 431 new dwellings were completed in the MidWest between January & March in comparison to 395 at this time last year.
