The five-week period between February 17th and March 24th saw an unprecedented spike in the numbers presenting to Clare County Council as homeless.

In that time frame, 246 people made contact – 44 of which were new presentations.

This figure dropped dramatically in the following five weeks.

From March 24th to April 21st, 89 people reached out to the Clare Homeless Action Team – 14 of those were reaching out for the first time.

Despite six households exiting homeless services in April, 13 families remain in emergency accommodation.

Those 13 families are comprised of 54 adults and 24 children.

The latest figures from the Department Of Housing record 58 adults in Clare as being homeless in the third week of April.

This is a marginal decrease on March’s figure of 61 homeless adults in the county.

While Clare’s level of homelessness dropped slightly, the overall figure for the MidWest rose from 330 homeless adults in March to 341 last month.
