Midwest Simon Downplays Drop In Homeless Figures

The CEO of Midwest Simon is downplaying a drop in homeless figures in this region at a time when the national figures are rising.

Latest figures from Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy have revealed that at the end of September, 324 adults were without a permanent home across the Midwest, down from 354 a year ago.

In addition, there were 70 children in Clare alone classed as homeless; a jump of four in a year, while that figure is also two more than in August.

Despite the marginal fall here, nationally figures have risen by 7% in the past year while this is the third consecutive month the numbers have gone up.
