Department Of Housing Says ‘Scale’ Of Pyrite Problem In Clare Is ‘Unclear’

The Department of Housing says “the estimated scale” of the defective concrete blocks problem in Clare is “unclear”.

Correspondence from the Department to Clare County Council, seen by Clare FM, claims the Council’s submission earlier this year does not have sufficient evidence damage to houses in this county is ‘as a result of pyrite induced expansion’.

The letter to the local authority says houses in this county assessed for pyrite presence have “very rare evidence” of pyrite oxidation and that further breakdowns of costs and damage is needed.
