Council To Receive Up To €1.7 Million In Funding To Refurbish Vacant Social Homes

Clare County Council is to receive up to €1.7 million to re-furbish and re-let vacant social homes across the county this year.

119 vacant local authority homes have received funding under the Voids Programme for 2021, which will see the Department of Housing provide grants for the refurbishment and re-letting of around 3,000 social homes nationwide.

107 of the homes will see the Council receive up to €11,000 per unit to refurbish the property, with the other 12 requiring more work and qualifying for up to €50,000 each in funding.

The funding is believed to be a significant increase in allocation compared to previous years of the scheme.
