Council CEO Says Clare Ukrainian Housing Provision Is Unstable

The CEO of Clare County Council has described the accommodation situation for Ukrainian refugees in Clare as “quite unstable”.

Pat Dowling has told this month’s meeting of the local authority that this is largely because many of the approximate 4,400 displaced Ukrainians in the county are currently living in hotel accommodation.

He made the comment in response to a motion from Independent councillor Gerry Flynn, who called on the government to provide additional resources to address the housing need for Ukrainian refugees in Clare.

Mr Dowling says that the government needs to assist the local authority financially to address the issue.
