Concern In Clare Over Rebuilding Ireland Home Loan Discrimination

Concern is emerging in Clare over what’s been described as “discriminatory rules” surrounding the Rebuilding Ireland Home Loan scheme.

The scheme sees mortgages handed out to first-time buyers through their local authorities and though it is open to applicants up to 70 years of age, it’s feared older buyers are being left out in the cold.

Ennis Fine Gael Councillor Mary Howard says older people who are eligible for the loans are still unable to draw down a mortgage because of their age.
