Clonlara is set for 40 new houses in the village after Clare County Council gave the development the green light.
DTW Construction Ltd is to begin work on the dwellings in the Church Road area having initially sought permission to build 70 new blocks.
The site, located near Clonlara GAA club, also includes plans for connecting to water, along with permission being sought for pedestrian entrances, footpaths and parking areas.

The local authority says the development, which had been objected to by a number of nearby residents, will not ‘seriously injure’ the amenities of the area.
