Clare’s Sinn Fein TD is describing the Government’s Housing For All plan as having ‘all bark and no bite’.

300 thousand homes being delivered by 2030 are being promised as part of the initiative, with 20 billion euro to be spent on implementing the first five years of the plan.

It breaks down as 10,000 social homes, 4,000 affordable homes, 2 thousand cost rental homes and 17 thousand private houses each year.

A tax on vacant properties has not been included in the plan, though a new system to replace the existing Vacant Site Levy is to be put in place.

Kilrush-based Deputy Violet-Anne Wynne says that’s not enough, and she believes a full time Vacant Homes Officer is needed for Clare and other counties.
