Clare Pyrite Action Group Says Homeowners Here Facing Potential 23% Rise In Remediation Costs

The Clare Pyrite Action Group claims people in this county are potentially facing a 23% rise in the cost of remediating homes affected by defective concrete blocks.

A new report by the Society of Chartered Surveyors Ireland (SCSI) shows that the average rebuild cost for those affected by pyrite or mica has increased by between 14 and 15%.

However, the government has yet to reveal the rates the body has produced for the cost of demolition and rebuilding of houses or the partial remediation of homes in this county – figures which will inform the government’s Defective Concrete Blocks Grant Scheme.
