Claims Changing Rents To Long-Term Would Ease Clare’s Housing Crisis

It’s claimed major incentives are required to divert short term let hosts in Clare to the long term market.

It comes as the government is considering to extend the €14,000 tax-free Rent a Room scheme to landlords to increase long-term rental accommodation in the country.

There are currently 1,044 listings for entire homes and apartments on AirBNB in Clare with over 99% of those listings for short term rentals.

Kilkee Fianna Fáil Councillor Cillian Murphy who previously wrote to the Housing Minister on the matter says every available room adds up.
