Average house prices in Clare have more than doubled in the last decade.
New data from the Central Statistics Office shows the cost of a property in this county was above €221,000 on average in the month of February.
179 property transactions took place in Clare in the first two months of 2022 – that’s a slight drop on the same period in 2021.
The CSO data shows that the price of these transactions is continuing to creep upwards.
The mean price of a home in this county in February was just over €221,000, which is a rise of nearly 18 percent in just 12 months.
Perhaps more strikingly, it’s more than double the mean price of €107,000 that it cost to buy a house here back in 2012.
The median price of a transaction, which perhaps gives a more equal picture of the housing market, was €255,000 in Clare in February 2022.
That’s two and a half times higher than 2012 prices and a more than 40 percent jumped in just a year.
Meanwhile, first time buyers are forking out €216,000 on average for their first home in Clare, which is perhaps surprisingly a drop of just over three percent on last year’s numbers.
