There’s been a 5 percent drop in the number of households claiming the Housing Assistance Payment in Clare this year.
Figures released to the Oireachtas by Housing Minister Darragh O’ Brien show 1,347 HAP tenancies were active in this county at the beginning of 2022.
That’s a fall of 76 compared to the 1,423 households availing of the support in January 2021.

Clare bucks the national trend though, with the more than 52,000 HAP tenancies nationwide being a 12 percent increase on 2020’s numbers.
