At a time when supply continues to prove a struggle for prospective homeowners, the number of new dwellings in Clare is on an upward trajectory.

A total of 421 new homes were registered in this county in the 12 months to the end of June, marking a 20% rise on the 350 this time last year.

In addition, some 277 residential buildings are currently under construction across the county.

The average house in Clare will now set you back €180,897, with 1,115 property transactions recorded across Clare in the past year.

But despite this strong performance, GeoDirectory’s data also shows a significant majority of the almost 25,000 new homes built in Ireland last year were in Dublin and the east of the country, meaning the east-west divide is growing.

Meanwhile, Clare’s vacancy rate of 6.6%, though a slight improvement on the figure of a year ago, is well ahead of the national average at 4.8%.
