House Prices In Shannon Up 20% In A Year

The average price of a house in Shannon has risen by almost 20% in the space of a year.

New data from the Central Statistics Office has revealed that house prices in some parts of Clare have increased at a greater rate than the national average, but appear to have fallen slightly in Ennis.

76 dwelling purchases were completed in Clare in February of this year, which is up from 68 in the same month last year.

The median price for a property sold in this county in the year to February was €240,000 – indicating a 2% increase from the previous year.

In Shannon, where nine purchases were completed in February, the average price for a property is now €215,000 which is 19% above where it stood a year previously.

Four purchases were recorded in the Kilrush region where the average price has increased by 13% to €195,000.

At 35, the majority of purchases took place in the Ennis Eircode area, where the average price of a property has dropped marginally to €250,000.

Nationally, the average price of a home stands 6.1% above where it was 12 months ago at €330,000.
