It’s been suggested that designated shopping hours could be set aside in Ennis Town Centre for some groups, such as older people.

From tomorrow, large parts of the town centre will be pedestrianised to allow for social distancing, in a move that was supported by 70% of businesses in a recent survey.

However, some people with limited mobility have complained that the move will lead to the removal of some car parking spaces from the centre of the town.

Senior Executive Officer with the Ennis Municipal District, Leonore O’Neill, says any change could only come with the agreement of stakeholders, including businesses.
