Irish Water says there’s a ‘predictable pattern’ for water shortages around the country as the dry weather continues.
It’s extending its hosepipe ban beyond the Greater Dublin area this week, as part of efforst to counteract falling reservoir levels during the heatwave.
Fines and court appearances have been threatened for those who break the rules.
Managing Director of Irish Water, Jerry Grant, explains what counties are likely to be affected:
Night-time restrictions imposed in parts North Clare will remain in place between 10pm and 6am each night until further notice.
The areas affected include Lahinch, Lisdoonvarna, Doolin, Liscannor, Ballagh-Cahersherkin and surrounding Group Water Supply schemes.
