A hose pipe ban has come into force in Clare and across the country this morning.
The ban remains in force until the end of the month as supplies remain dangerously low.
With most of the country in the grip of drought and temperatures set to rise over the weekend, Irish Water says it could take months for levels in rivers and lakes to return to normal.
The company’s Kate Gannon explains how the hosepipe ban will be enforced:
Night-time restrictions also remain in place in a number of areas across the county and businesses in parts of East Clare say they’re under strain on account of the delay in returning supply on a daily basis.
Tulla butcher Liam O’Meara is concerned:
Night-time restrictions also remain in place in Lahinch, Lisdoonvarna ,Doolin, Liscannor, Ardnaculla (Ennistymon) and surrounding Group Water Supply schemes in north Clare.
While water main repair works in Ennistymon continue to impact on surrounding areas, including Ballyvaughan and Fanore, where water tankers have been provided and will be replenished throughout the day until normal service is restored.
