Hopes Work On Killaloe Bypass Will Commence By Early Summer Despite Cost Concerns

An East Clare Councillor is confident that work can begin on the Killaloe Bypass by early Summer in spite of potential rising costs associated with the project.

Concern was expressed at this month’s meeting of Clare County Council about potential delays to the works due to the inflationary cost of construction materials.

Fine Gael Councillor Pat Burke told representatives that local sub-contractors were worried they hadn’t been given the go ahead by the lead contractor John Sisk & Sons Ltd.

However, following assurances from the project manager Sean Lenihan and the announcement of the government’s pledge to cover up to 70% of inflationary costs for state projects, the Killaloe native says no obstacles stand in the way now.
