People will be able to park free of charge in the afternoon on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from this weekend.
It comes ahead of a workshop in January, when reduced parking charges will be discussed.
Free parking incentives aren't new to Ennis, having been introduced during the festive season in the past, but this year the scheme includes all three of the busiest shopping days.
People will be able to park free of charge after 3 o'clock on Thursdays to Saturdays, from this week until January 10th, in an effort to encourage people to stay in the town for longer.
The decision has been taken not to allow free parking in the morning, as previous trials found that many of the spaces were taken up by people going to work, or those who left their car in car parks after a night out.
Ennis Councillor Johnny Flynn hopes the incentives will provide a boost for all of the towns businesses:
It comes ahead of a workshop due to take place in early January, which will see a debate around the reduction of parking charges in the town from 1 euro 30 to 1euro.
But Vice President of Ennis Chamber, Will Caher believes that as it stands, it makes more sense financially for people to come to Ennis, rather than travelling to towns or cities elsewhere.
