Hopes Short Film Can Be Catalyst To Preservation Of Green Sanctuary At Heart Of Ennis

It’s hoped a twenty minute short film will be the catalyst for the long-term preservation of a vital green sanctuary nestled in the heart of Ennis.

The film, being screened at Maria Assumpta Hall this Friday evening from 7pm, is being hosted by protest group “Hands Off Ennis Post Office Field,” with a number of presentations from prominent Environmental Consultant, Ecologist and Heritage Consultants.

It aims to highlight the vital role the Post Office Field and urban riverbanks play in combating biodiversity loss, climate change and flooding risk, with those behind the production saying they see no merit in Ennis 2040 plans for the development of the area, which are currently under review.

Clarecastle Sinn Féin Councillor Tommy Guilfoyle, who’s a member of the Hands of Ennis Post Office Field group, says redevelopment plans should focus on building around the field, not on it.
