Hopes Shannon Strikes Can Be Averted

A fresh drive is to get underway to resolve a pensions row which is threatening to hit passengers at Shannon, Cork and Dublin Airports.

SIPTU members at the airports and at Aer Lingus this week voted in favour of taking industrial action over the dispute.

Now the trustees of a pension scheme which is jointly run across the various companies are to try and hammer out new proposals which it's hoped could avert problems.

It has been reported that industrial action could be targeted around busy periods, such as St. Patrick's Day, and tourism representatives have expressed concern about the impact of any uncertainty.
