The businessman behind plans for Ireland’s largest road and rail museum in West Clare has expressed confidence the project will go ahead when a new planning application is lodged.

An Bord Pleanala has refused permission for the West Clare Railway Museum at Moyasta, upholding road safety concerns raised in an objection by the National Roads authority.

But Jackie Whelan believes a new application will be successful if the speed limit on the main N67 is reduced, and because the West Clare Railway is recognised as one of Clare’s main tourist attractions in the new County Development Plan.
