Hopes Motorway Cameras Will Reduce Threat Of Loss Of Life On Clare Roads

It’s hoped the installation of cameras at a controversial motorway junction near Ennis will help prevent against the loss of life in the future.

Transport Infrastructure Ireland has installed the equipment in the vicinity of the Junction 13 Tulla/Scarriff exit of the M18 to monitor driver behaviour, following a written request from Clare County Council.

The study, which is expected to take a number of months, will focus on various times of day and weather conditions.

Concerns have been repeatedly expressed by road users after the Ennis bypass was completed in 2007 and since the road was upgraded from dual-carriageway to a motorway in 2009.

Fianna Fáil Councillor Pat Hayes called for the cameras to be installed and he’s been telling Clare FM’s Fiona Cahill that he hopes they’ll result in works being carried out:
