Midwest Simon has expressed hope that there will be a 50% reduction in the number of homeless families in the region by the end of the year.
It comes as the latest figures from the Department of Housing show 167 children in Clare and Limerick were without a permanent roof over their head in October, almost four times the number in the same month last year.
They’re among 83 families living in emergency accomodation in hotels, B&Bs and other residential facilities last month, a rise of 61 on October 2016.
55 adults were homeless in Clare alone in October, a rise of 7 on the previous month, and more than double the number 12 months ago.
