Hopes That Irish Open Will Leave Lasting Legacy In Lahinch

Organisers of the Dubai Duty Free Irish Open, including the Council and Gardaí, who played a key role in the staging of the event have been praised, following its success.

Spaniard Jon Rahm walked away with the top prize, and a cheque worth over one million euro, but Clare and Lahinch were winners too on a weekend that gave the county its largest ever international showcase.

The sold out signs went up on Saturday and Sunday – the first time that’s happened at the Irish Open since 2012 – and organisers say nearly 87,000 spectators attended the event.

Paddy Keane from Lahinch Golf Club said everything they wished for came true:

Video footage of the Banner County has been broadcasted to every corner of the globe, to a worldwide audience of 500 million people, throughout the event.
