It’s hoped the removal of a controversial cargo ship from a West Clare pier will allow more tourists to visit the area.
A number of dis-used vessels have been taken away from Cahercon pier, which is two miles south of Kildysart, and there are now calls for upgrade works to be carried out there to make it accessible for leisure craft.

Local Councillor Oliver Garry is optimistic that such works would lead to an economic boost in the area.
