It’s hoped that an historic building in Shannon will be restored to public use by the end of next year.
Plans have been submitted for the reconstruction of Hasting’s Farmhouse to return it to use for community meetings or training seminars.

The house was used as a safehouse during the War of Independence and is constructed entirely out of indigenous materials.
Chairperson of Dúchas na Sionna, John O’Brien, is hopeful the restoration project will set a precedent for similar projects countrywide.
