It’s hoped that recognition for Scattery Island will open it up to extra visitors.
The West Clare island is one of three areas shortlisted for this year’s EDEN competition which honours sustainable tourism development.
Clare has a strong track record in this competition, with previous winners including the Burren Food Trail and Loop Head and Scattery will find out if it will be added to that list at the end of September.
