Hopes Expressed That Ardnacrusha Could Be Major Tourist Draw

A Sixmilebridge Councillor is hoping Ardnacrusha Power Plant can emulate the success of the Hoover Dam in the US.

The hydro-electric plant first began facilitating tours in June 1928, welcoming over 85,000 visitors within the first nine months, and now the ESB is returning to that tradition by allowing the public through its gates this summer.

It follows a motion put forward to Clare County Council by Independent Councillor PJ Ryan.
