It’s hoped new public realm enhancements in a North Clare town will provide a significant slow tourism boost to the region.
Public realm works have concluded in Ennistymon following the completion of a scheme known as Destination Towns under which €500,000 was granted by Fáilte Ireland, with Clare County Council providing an additional €125,000.
The enhancements to the town, on which work began in 2021, include additional accessible street furniture, pedestrian crossings, bicycle racks, street tree planting, accessibility improvements and the installation of high-quality street lighting.
Fianna Fáíl Ennistymon Councillor Shane Talty believes the more appealing look of the town will lead to a surge in tourist traffic in the area.
