It’s hoped a major funding boost will greatly enhance the visitor experience at one of Clare’s most prominent attractions.

Clare County Council has pledged to invest €1m in Craggaunowen as it prepares to reopen for the tourist season on St. Patrick’s Day.

It’s anticipated the impending upgrade works, which include a new children’s playground based on St. Brendan’s Voyage and improvements to the site’s signature crannógs will boost visitor numbers to over 30,000 next year.

General Manager of Clare Tourism East Stephen Hanley says the landmark will be able to thrive after years of neglect.
