Hope That New Lough Derg Walking Route Will Form Part Of River Shannon Greenway

It’s hoped a half-million euro boost in funding for the Lough Derg Blueway will be the foundation of a walking trail stretching the length of the River Shannon.

Minister for Rural & Community Development Michael Ring has announced €8 million for outdoor recreation projects across the country, under a new scheme.

In East Clare, €498,000 will be spent on a 5km hardcore path between Bealkelly and Tuamgraney, which is extending one already laid over the past few years.
