The Central Bank’s Governor will face questions at the Banking Inquiry today about the interview he gave in 2010 which was one of the first admissions that Ireland was about to be bailed out.

Patrick Honohan’s comments came after many Ministers denied the Government was in talks with the Troika.

His evidence comes after former Department of Finance official Kevin Cardiff yesterday told the Committee that Ireland asked the IMF about the possibility of a bailout programme as early as 2008.
