Homes And Businesses Across Clare Without Power Following Sustained Heavy Snowfall

Over 200 customers across the Banner county are currently without power following sustained heavy snowfall today.

The majority of outages seen in Clare are in Newmarket on Fergus and the surrounding area with the ESB expecting power to be returned by 5pm, while pockets of outages are also being experienced in Miltown Malbay.

Separately, high volumes of snow resulted in a road traffic collision causing delays in the Northbound lane of the N18 between J4 Cratloemoyle and J5 Cratloe, the incident has since been cleared with no injuries reported.

With the county’s status orange snow and ice warning extended until 8pm, motorists are advised to be alert to flooding and surface water countywide and of low lying tree branches weighed down by snow. While the RSA is warning roads will remain treacherous for a number of days following the expiration of the weather warning.
