Historians Seek Information On Biddy Fox Who May Have Lived To 116 Years Of Age

Days after the death of Ireland's oldest ever woman, it appears that another Clare woman may have lived for even longer.

A cast iron headstone in Kilmurry says Bridget Fox died in July 1905, aged 116 years old.

That's three years older than Kathleen Snavely, the Feakle native who died in New York this week aged 113, and believed to be the oldest person ever born on this island.

A 1901 census lists a Bridget Fox as being 100 years old, but Michael Fahy from Quin, her grand nephew, insists the age on the headstone is correct.
