A HIQA inspection has found that a south-east Clare facility did not adequately report or investigate several potential safeguarding incidents.
The Health Information and Quality Authority published its report of the unannounced inspection carried out in Cratloe Nusing Home on the 24th of July.
The Gallow’s Hill Facility hosted 29 residents on the day of the inspection, and has the capacity to cater for 32 residents in total.
The facility was found to be not compliant in residents protection, it was recognized however steps were taken to protect its inhabitants from abuse.
The report found that a number of vulnerable residents did not have a safeguarding plan in place, while it was also noted ‘several potential safeguarding incidents had not been appropriately reported, documented and investigated’.
In response to the judgement of non compliance Cratloe Nursing Home said it submitted a further two NF06 forms, related to the ‘allegation, suspected or confirmed, of abuse to a resident’ making the centre was now compliant with all regulatory notifications required.
The report stated that the nursing home was either compliant or substantially compliant in all other areas.
In a previous inspection, in June of this year, Cratloe Nursing Home was found to be non-complaint with resident’s assessment and care plans.
On this occasion, no such issue was recorded with the report stating the facility was compliant in the area and that documents ‘contained information specific to the individual needs of the residents’.
