There were 72 residents in the facility on the date of the unannounced HIQA visit which took place on the 22nd and 23rd of February of this year, following an inspection last July.

The recent report has found Ennis Road Care Facility non-compliant in one area, substantially compliant in one and fully compliant in ten.

The facility was found to not be compliant in its individual assessments and care plans with with inspectors stating that their plans were lacking person-centred information about residents.

One example found that a care plan had not been updated to reflect a residents support needs in relation to responsive behaviours and another found that a change recommended by a dietician had not resulted in the food and nutrition plan being updated.

Because of this, the Ennis facility was also found to be only substantially compliant in its Governance and management in relation to their recording of details in care plans.

However, inspectors notes that residents were ‘happy living in the centre” and “with the support provided by staff.”

Several residents also said that they liked the space available that allowed them to be both involved in what was going on, but also to be independent when they chose to.

In addition, on the second day of the inspection there was a range of activities taking place with a singer performing and residents and staff dancing.
