Shannon is to become the first airport in the country to use the latest high-tech firefighting equipment.
Two new Austrian-built fire trucks will be delivered to the Mid-West airport next year.
The High Reach Extendable Turret vehicles allow crews to apply water, foam and dry chemical to fires remotely, keeping them at a safe distance.
