High Level Of Overcrowding Persists At UHL

A high level of overcrowding is continuing to persist at the region’s main hospital today.

The latest figures from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation shows there were 114 admitted patients waiting for beds at University Hospital Limerick this morning.

The figure exceeds the number recorded at all ten hospitals serving the east of the country today and is more than double the next busiest facility; Cork University Hospital.

It follows a surge of demand for services at the Dooradoyle facility over the weekend with a ‘significant number’ of patients left waiting on trolleys.

HSE Midwest has urged patients to consider all care options before presenting at UHL, including out of hours GP services and injury units.
