Dave Kavanagh, a friend of the late Gerry Ryan, claims he is defamed in Melanie Verwoerd’s autobiography and he wants to restrain its publication.

The book ‘When We Dance’ hit bookshelves two weeks ago but not for long as publisher Liberties Press consented to an order prohibiting its sale, distribution or further publication.

This was agreed after the case made its way to the High Court and lawyers for Liberties Press and Melanie Verwoerd said they needed time to put their case together.

The man taking the action, Dave Kavanagh was one of the last people to see Gerry Ryan when they met for drinks and dinner the night before the dj’s untimely death in April 2010.
