Clare County Council is commending landowners for the generally high levels of compliance with hedge-cutting legislation.
€10,000 has been allocated towards the Cummunity Hedge Cutting Scheme, which sees a grant of fifty euro per kilometre of hedgerow being paid to landowners for the cutting of overhanging trees.

The scheme was the first of its kind to be developed in the country when it was piloted in 2013.
Landowners have until this day next week to submit an application for the grant and John Corry from the council's Transportation Department says there's been good levels of compliance in the county.
