Minister Simon Harris has responded to the two main issues which have recently arisen regarding health services in Clare.

Speaking for the first time since ShannonDoc announced it's to scale back services in the East and West of the county this month, Minister Simon Harris has re-iterated that the decision is not a funding issue.

Shannondoc blamed a falling number of GPs for the move and the Minister says efforts are being made to increase doctor numbers.

Meanwhile, the Dáil has heard there is no suggestion that the county's ambulance service, and the provision of rapid response vehicles here, will be downgraded.

A review of the RRVs in Clare and Tipperary is ongoing, and the issue has been raised in Leinster House by Clare TD Michael Harty.

Deputy Catherine Byrne responded on the Minister's behalf.
