A report into finances at the HSE has found that while health services nationally are running over budget, Ennis General Hospital has managed to keep it’s spending somewhat under control.
However, absenteeism remains an issue at the county hospital.
A new report into the state of finances in the Health Service has found that the Western Region, which includes County Clare, is responsible for one quarter of the HSE’s budgetary overspend.
However, that’s not the case at Ennis General Hospital, which has spent only 90% of it’s budget up to the end of August
Following controversy about absenteeism levels at the county hospital last month, staff attendance levels improve somewhat in July, the most recent month for which figures are available.
Despite this, almost 8% of workers were absent from the hospital on any given day, the second highest figure of any hospital nationwide.
