Kilrush District Hospital Ltd. was subject to an unannounced inspection by HIQA on December 10th last, on a day when 33 residents were in situ.

Overall, it was found to be a pleasant place to stay, with the residents speaking highly of the care they are receiving from staff.

Those living there said they feel safe, secure, warm and comfortable, while complimenting the food and range of activities on offer.

However, inspectors found that fire drill records were inadequate and did not provide assurance that residents could be evacuated safely and in a timely manner in the event of fire or other emergency.

In response, management have already made a number of changes and had committed to implementing a new fire drill regime by the end of January.
