West Clare Councillor Hits Out At Govt For Failing To Provide Enough First Responder Teams

A West Clare Councillor claims isolated communities are being forced to fund their own first responder services on account of the government’s failure to do so.

Figures released by the HSE have revealed that over two-thirds of incidents of cardiac arrest outside of the hospital system occur in the home, with men accounting for 67% of all cases.

Early intervention in these situations is key to ensuring survival and the urban-rural divide is evident, with the bulk of such instances in Clare in 2018 in isolated areas.
