UHL Trolley Figures ‘Unacceptable’ As Bank Holiday Approaches Says Midwest Hospitals Campaign Group

The MidWest Hospital Campaigns Group have described the level of overcrowding at the regions main hospital as “utterly unacceptable”.

It comes as University Hospital Limerick remains by far the busiest in the country heading into the bank holiday weekend, with the INMO recording 111 patients on trolleys yesterday.

The HSE has granted €5.2m in funding to extend operating hours at Medical Assessment Units in Nenagh & St. John’s hospitals from this weekend, with the funding also securing the already extended service at Ennis General into the future.

However, Ballyvaughan based member of the MidWest Hospital’s Campaign Group, Noeleen Moran believes such measures need to be accessible around the clock to have a real impact.
