The MidWest Hospital Campaign has submitted a petition with 15,000 signatures to the Dáil Petitions Committee to address the overcrowding crisis at the region’s main hospital.

The petition calls for the Ennis, Nenagh and St. John’s Hospitals to be upgraded to Model 3 facilities and for the emergency department in each to be reopened to help alleviate pressure at University Hospital Limerick.

The petition hearing will take place next Wednesday and the group is hopeful that the committee will call the Health Minister before it to answer its concerns.
