Medical Sector Troubles Could Take ‘Decades’ To Turn Around

A Lahinch GP is expressing concern that it may take “decades” to turn around Ireland’s troubled medical sector.

The Irish Medical Organisation’s pre-Budget submission is calling on the government to release more funding to help address their recruitment crisis.

It says there’s a consultant shortfall of up to 72% in some key specialities, as they struggle to hire and retain medical staff who are opting for work overseas instead.
