On average, less than a fifth of 5-11 year-olds in Clare are fully vaccinated against the Covid-19 virus.
The latest figures from the Central Statistics Office show that as of July, Clare had an average vaccination uptake of 19.2% in this age group.
North Clare saw the lowest uptake in the Covid-19 vaccine for children aged between 5 and 11 year’s old, with only 14% in the Ennistymon electoral area getting both jabs.
This was closely followed by West Clare where 15% of 5-11’s are fully vaccinated.
East Clare saw the largest vaccination rate in this age group, with 24% receiving both doses.
Shannon and Ennis recorded vaccination levels of 22% and 21% respectively.
In terms of the first booster vaccine, as of July an average of nearly 60% of people over 12 in Clare opted to receive a third dose of a Covid vaccine.
West Clare recorded the highest uptake in the booster, with 62% in this area getting the shot.
Shannon and East Clare recorded the lowest uptake in Clare, with 58% of people in these areas receiving a third dose.
The demand in Clare for the first booster vaccine in comparison to the first two doses is almost 44% lower.
Uptake for the second booster in Clare this July saw an average of 10% of people receive the fourth dose.
However, it’s important to note that the rollout was only extended to the 55-64 year old cohort on July 23rd.
